The Hunger Project is a global organisation whose mission is to bring an end to hunger. Since hunger and poverty is often very closely related to lack of knowledge and education it is no surprise that The Hunger Project in India is mainly working with providing training and education for women. Women and young girls [...]

John D. Liu is a director at the Environmental Education Media Project. Trying to answer a question how to describe the Rework conference in one word Mr. Liu offered us some thinking when refusing the word work and instead emphasizing understanding and consciousness in order to aline ourselves with natural systems.
The Environmental Education Media Project [...]

Yet another inspiring initiative we came across at Rework: Everon Orange came to Sweden to present a project that goes by the name of Heal the Hood. As the name implies the project is taking place in the “hoods”, using art workshops and training as a method of rehabilitation and further more encouraging young people [...]

Sometimes it is not all about reworking the world in a rational way such as developing new alternative techniques of energy production or providing education. There are other bits and pieces; maybe not as connected to the official scientific world but for that matter no less important. Crear Vale La Pena is an initiative brought [...]

Two weeks have gone since we’ve kicked off our platform at Rework summit. As you’ve hopefully noticed the production is still running and we’re publishing new interviews with interesting and inspiring people everyday.
I find it important to highlight that Representing Youth initiative might have been taken based on the Rework conference but its existence does [...]

Jaques Luis Manuel Nginga is a representative of YES Angola. Taking small steps they’re bringing hope to young people in Angola with the help of vocational training centres. Starting off with raising money for two high-school scholarships. In a country devastated by two decades of civil war and the socio-economic problems followed that is the way [...]

As a young person, I feel a need and responsibility to share the story of this initiative. Tällberg have done fantastic work to bring such initiatives to Sweden and provide an opportunity and space for them to grow. Unfortunately they were not given adequate space to present their initiative, so I will do my part [...]

A couple of days have now passed since we all left the bubble of the Rework The World summit. Conferences and summits usually gives you a lot of inspiration and a desk full of work to dig in to when you come back. During these four days I attended one session out of 150 possible, [...]

In the closing of Rework the World we were invited to share our initiative on stage to the full audience of the conference. Here’s an impromptu video I made by placing the camera on stage as we walked on – I’m glad the camera angle worked out!
As grateful as we were, there was also a [...]

In between all the vivid discussions there has to be time for some fun as well, since we can’t do any good work without being happy. Re:presenters have been bringing dance and music throughout the days and sometimes there are these amazing spontaneous people around that make it just magic!

What do we do when we come together at conferences like Rework the World? We sit and listen to plenaries, we join workshops that could also be called “talkshops“, we talk to people we don’t know yet, and mostly to the ones we already know. Walking around asking some of the (young) people at this [...]

I have interviewed an awesome Danish girl with quirky glasses and a lot of art. She has given a whole new practical dimension. Well, I do not want to give out too much about her. Watch the interview to know more about her
I know her head has been cut out. It was my first try! [...]

Why are you an entrepreneur? Different people say different things. I asked some young leaders and entrepreneurs at Rework the world. Money. Life quality improved. A challenge. Creating something new. Partnerships and collaborations. Choosing your colleagues. Solving problems. Power. Influence. Freedom. Freedom of action. Freedom to decide. A strong voice. A voice that counts. Also, to gain [...]

“Why is there so much talk about reworking the world, and no action?”, Stephen Matenga, Zimbabwe
Representers Valentine and Brenno are asking participants what is the burning question at Rework, last day in Leksand
“We bring all these amazing intatives to Rework, such as PeePoople, but still we are using chemical toilets at the conferece. Where is the [...]

On Thursday night we (LSU) gathered around 150 youth participants to finally start talking! There has been a lot of passive participation during the conference, sitting at large plenary sessions and listening listening listening to other people go on. Obviously very interesting as well, but there hadn’t been an opportunity for any of the youth [...]

Today and Yesterday I attended a workshop called “The artist as social entrepreneur” / “Interfaces between culture, politics and business”.
We saw an awesome breakdance performance – some cool raps were kicked. Several contributors told about their personal experiences. A woman from Argentina who is a professional dancer told us her amazing story of how she ended up setting up cultural centres all throughout south america.

Update: Tonight it will happen. Vattenfall HQ blackout 22:00-23:00. Stay tuned to see the documentation.
Will the Vattenfall HQ in Stockholm turn black tonight? The challenge is on and the top management is doing all to make it happen. The phone lines between Leksand and Stockholm are hot.
Background: Vattenfall claims to work for the best of the [...]

Genuine Conversations Need To Be A Focus
Yesterday my team of Representers were lucky enough to arrange an Interview with Rushanara Ali, a UK politician, with a powerful voice for Women, the Muslim community and Youth, due to her work with the Young Foundation.
Once we approached her she was so forthcoming, [...]

On a summit like Rework the World, aiming to challenge conference structures and old patters, we still find ourselves in long plenaries, workshops, parallel sessions and break-away rooms. Conferences tend to become what conferences have been before. Acknowledging the strong intention to turn Rework the World into a Working meeting I sense that the working [...]

Yesterday at the second day at Rework I experienced something within myself that represented an extreme point of change. It was my opinion and standpoint in a certain question that had to be let go off.

The rest of the trip would best be perceived from the backseat in fear and loathing in las vegas; it became more and more blur as I leaned forward and started to have a deep conversation with the front seat chugging on it while I was snoring.

After a long & productive inagural gathering of Representing Youth on Tuesday, and a five hour drive starting at six Wednesday morning, we have arrived atRework & been busy setting up and getting settled. I am now sitting in the private seating outside the Fanzingo sky-box as a solo violin welcomes participants to the first full day (Thursday) of [...]

I fear re-working our world is simply not enough; it is like choosing a road for Humanity that may lead us to another dead end-it’s time to give youth a chance, they have the road map and whats more they have the courage! After attending the in…
